New Year | Journals

IMG_0089.JPGI’ve kept a year-long journal/diary on and off for most years of my life. For 2015, I want to write something down every single day. Even if it isn’t a page full of writing, I want to at least write a couple of sentences about my day. I want to be able to look back at a particular diary, flick to a random page and see what I was up to.

Today I went and bought a journal for 2015.

I really like how stylish and chic this journal is. It doesn’t have the usual rectangular-blocked edge, but instead is rounded and feels nice to hold. It isn’t too bulky either (not that I will be taking this with me). I like the deep red too, and the simple carved design.

I’m really excited to start writing in it today {even though I’m a couple of days late}. Nevertheless, I thought I would share with you an extract from my old self in 2010 on this exact date, January 3rd.

January 3rd, 2010
Today I woke up and went downstairs with QQ and Honey to watch TV. We watched Tracy Beaker and lots of MI High. I still haven’t cracked the stupid code yet! Had breakfast – bacon sandwich with some orange juice.

I still have a bit of homework left to do, answer some science questions and make sure that I have videos, pictures and music for our e-time capsule websites we’re doing. Tomorrow I need to ring up and get my laptop fixed coz whenever I go on it, it always says ‘plugged in, not charging’ on the battery. I also need to get everything ready for school a well as having my hair cut! Tomorrow is going to be a busy day for me and I know that I may get distracted by facebook, MSN, the internet, reading a book or even playing a game (probably on the Wii though). Anyway, this evening Mum helped and showed me how to pin down the templates on the dress top onto the material and then we cut two pieces out of seven. It was getting quite late so Mum said we’d cut the rest out tomorrow. I’ve started reading The Tiger in the Well by Philip Pullman. Mum gave me this little mini newspaper article about how we can help stop Global Warming. She told me to read it so I will. Also, Mum bought in a lead so that my bedside table lamp will work (my bed isn’t near any sockets).

Goodnight! Viola x

It’s strange for me to re-read that diary entry. I was twelve years old when I wrote that – in year 8 at school. It’s funny to think that some things haven’t changed: I’m still constantly procrastinating on the internet and I’m still as busy as a bee. On the other hand, it saddens me to think that I was such a keen sewer back in 2010, whereas I haven’t touched my sewing machine since I finished my GCSE Textiles. I must get back into sewing and make a couple of things this year.

Being able to look back through the years is a really nice pastime for me and I can’t wait to see what 2015 has to say!

Do you keep a journal or diary?

Peace and love,
Viola xo

  1. I used to have a diary when I was younger but I haven’t had one for years then I found one I loved this year and I am trying to stick to it 🙂 xx

  2. every time i try to start a journal, i always miss out a week then feel theres no point restarting. Plus, mine would read ‘got up, watched tele, went to bed’. Inspirational isn’t it.
