A week ago, I was invited to a restaurant opening in Richmond: a Mexican restaurant and take-away. Unfortunately, I was unable to go to the event but I was offered the chance to review their food this week.*
On Tuesday, my friend (Eloise) and I took the bus to Richmond, hungry and excited for Mexican food. I couldn’t wait to try a burrito – I’ve only ever made them myself at home; I’ve never tried one at an actual Mexican place!
Upon arrival, we walked up to the counter and were greeted by the two friendly workers there.
It was really fun deciding what to have. I chose a burrito with tomato rice, pinto beans, chicken, salsa verde (medium spice salsa), grated cheese and finally, guacamole! We were also kindly treated to a bucket of nachos (ft. spicy salsa and sour cream) and drinks of our choice. Eloise, on the other hand, went for a burrito filled with tomato rice, pinto beans, steak, salsa roja (hot salsa), grated cheese, guacamole and onions & cilantro. I opted for a lemon iced tea and Eloise a can of Sprite.
The burritos were both rolled in foil to keep them warm and placed in cute baskets with nicely printed crinkly paper.
The presentation was uber cute and, as Eloise put it, the buckets and mini baskets were very “home comfort”. I loved the presentation of the food because it truly reflected what Tortilla is all about. It’s the perfect representation of a ‘fast-food’ style restaurant: quick and easy to eat, but still presented in such a way that you can still sit down and enjoy the food.
The food itself was so good, and I mean really good. These medium-sized burritos are packed full to the brim and are extremely tasty. I loved how the flavours worked together and the textures were perfect – this burrito was definitely better than the ones I’ve made before! Eloise also found the burrito delicious and we both commented that we would be back for more very soon.
We chomped on the burritos and gobbled up the nachos in minutes! After the lovely meal, I was full but not stuffed. It was the perfect feeling of satisfaction.
I would definitely recommend you try the food here – it’s affordable and yummy!
*We were both given the food free of charge, however this does not affect my opinion on the brand or restaurant.
